VIP Customer Spotter

Tags your best customers the moment they hit $500 or 5 orders and hands you a thank-you note.

What it does: When a customer has spent $500 in total, or placed 5 orders, they get the tag vip and you get an email with a thank-you note ready to send. Each customer is only flagged once.

Why people want this: Small stores want to treat their best buyers well without paying for a loyalty app. A loyalty app "need[s] high repeat purchase rates to pay off" (reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1solefc).

Install in 3 steps

  1. Import. In Shopify, open the Flow app → Import → pick the .flow file you downloaded.
  2. Type your email once. Click Edit (top right), click the Send internal email box, and replace you@yourstore.com with your email. Click Save.
  3. Turn on. Click Turn on workflow, then Turn on.

That's it. You need Shopify Basic or higher. Flow is free.

Limits

  • It waits 2 minutes after each order before checking. Shopify needs that moment to finish recording the order, so alerts arrive about 2 minutes after checkout. That's normal.
  • It only checks when a new order is paid, so existing VIPs get flagged on their next order.
  • Shopify may update a customer's total a moment after the order. So a customer can get flagged one order late. That's fine.
  • It emails you, not the customer. You send the thank-you yourself.

Download, import, add your email, turn on. You download a Shopify Flow file, import it in Flow, type your email into the email step once (Shopify signs Flow files, so we can't prefill it), and turn it on. About 5 minutes. A manual step-by-step path is included too.
