"Where is my order?" cost calculator
Every "where is my order?" (WISMO) email takes time to look up and answer, and late orders often cost a discount or a reship on top. Enter your own numbers to see the monthly and yearly cost. Nothing is stored and there are no built-in industry averages: the result is only as good as the numbers you put in.
Your result
$225 a month, $2,700 a year
Showing results for the example numbers. Replace them with your own and press Calculate.
| "Where is my order?" messages per month | 50 |
| Support hours per month | 5 |
| Support cost per month | $125 |
| Late-order credits per month | $100 |
| Total per month | $225 |
| Total per year | $2,700 |
| If proactive updates prevented 10% of messages, you'd save per year | $150 |
| If proactive updates prevented 25% of messages, you'd save per year | $375 |
| If proactive updates prevented 50% of messages, you'd save per year | $750 |
This is arithmetic on the numbers above, not a forecast or a promise of savings.
How the math works
- Messages per month = orders per month × WISMO % ÷ 100
- Support hours per month = messages × minutes per message ÷ 60
- Support cost per month = support hours × hourly cost
- Late-order credits per month = late orders × average credit
- Total per month = support cost + late-order credits; per year = total × 12

FAQ
What does WISMO mean?
WISMO stands for "where is my order?". It's the customer-support message a shopper sends when an order hasn't shipped or arrived when they expected.
How do I find my own WISMO rate?
Count the "where is my order?" emails, chats and DMs you got in one week, then divide by the number of orders you took that week and multiply by 100. That percentage is your WISMO rate.
Why doesn't the calculator use an industry average?
Rates vary a lot by product, carrier and shipping promise, and published averages are often unsourced. Your own inbox is the most accurate source for your store.
How do I reduce WISMO emails?
Find late orders before customers do and send a short update first. Each morning check unfulfilled orders older than your shipping promise and shipped orders that haven't arrived. Late Order Radar automates that daily check in Shopify Flow.
